Dear Mamma,

Just a line to let you know I am well and there is an urgent call out for more men, men, men, and my name is going in for the 40th Regt. Last Friday there was a Capt. (I forget the name) from the front here and he said that the men at the [front] are happy as can be. He made a long speech, told us how they live and everything about them. Said they had a Jolly time. All I need is you concent.
